Our organic German chamomile oil is steam-distilled from the white and yellow flowers of Matricaria chamomilla grown in rural Nepal. During distillation, matricin turns into chamazulene, giving the oil its striking deep blue colour and a warm, sweet, fruity-herbal aroma. Treasured for calming the mind and comforting sensitive-feeling skin. Also available pre-diluted at 3% in jojoba.
Botanical name: Matricaria chamomilla (Matricaria recutita). Also known as wild, Italian or Hungarian chamomile, or scented mayweed. Origin: Nepal. Part used: flowers. Middle note. A small annual herb growing 60–90 cm tall, much loved in skincare and perfumery.
Warm and sweet, with rich herbal depth and a soft fruity note, like a breath of fresh air in a blooming meadow. Its deep blue colour is as distinctive as its scent; ideal for meditation and relaxation.
Always dilute in a carrier oil such as jojoba or sweet almond before applying to skin. Add to a diffuser for a calming atmosphere.
